    IELTS Academic Preparation

IELTS Academic is the most widely accepted English test for university admission, assessing reading, writing, listening, and speaking against a 0-9 band score. Universities and visa authorities set specific band requirements, and small preparation gaps often cost students the score they need. We prepare you specifically for the band your course requires.

Prepared for the exact band score your course requires.

    Service Process

Preparation starts with a baseline test to confirm your current band, followed by targeted practice on your weakest sections and full mock tests under timed conditions, so you know where you stand before exam day.

At SEMC, IELTS Academic preparation comes down to three commitments:

Practice focused on your weakest sections, not a generic course
Full mock tests scored against real IELTS criteria
Direct feedback on writing and speaking before you sit the real test
What band score do I need for university admission?
Test Requirements vary by university and course, typically ranging from 6.0 to 7.5 overall, with some individual sections needing to meet a minimum too. A course requiring an overall 6.5 might still require at least 6.0 in every section. We check your target course's exact requirement before building your preparation plan.
How is IELTS Academic different from IELTS General Training?
IELTS Academic is designed for university and higher education admission, with reading and writing tasks based on academic-style texts and reports. IELTS General Training is used for migration and work purposes instead, with more everyday, workplace-focused content. If you're applying to study, Academic is almost always the version you need.
How long is an IELTS Academic score valid?
IELTS results are generally valid for two years from your test date. If your application process takes longer than that, or if you retake the test to improve your band, you'll need a more recent result. We factor your application timeline into when we recommend you sit the test.
How many times can I retake IELTS if I don't get the score I need?
There's no limit on retakes, and many students improve their band significantly between attempts with focused preparation. Each attempt requires a new booking and fee, so it's worth identifying exactly which section held your score back first. We review your previous result and target preparation specifically at that gap.
